Tiba, I don't think that Larry meant to say that no we think that government is not needed.

I am not 100% sure, but I think that he meant to say that if this government is so bad, why is it that no one has taken action to get rid of it. I would tell Larry that I have called for such action several times already, and that after my calls--which was for a legal removal of this president, not a violent one--I received several threats right here on this website.

Why are more people not calling for the removal of this president and his government; well anyone who knows the history of corrupt governments in Haiti knows that it is a very dangerous thing to do. It would be a lot easier to throw Haiti into another episode of total chaos by calling for a violent coup d'etat, which could be done quickly.

However, that would only result in more destruction of property and more loss of human life. Haiti does not need anymore violence after the past years of just that. Preval knows that the Haitian people right now are tired of all the violence and the constant political changes in their society, and his betting that that weariness will allow him to get away with doing nothing for the length of his presidency.

I just came back from Haiti, and I can say that at a fundamental level, this morally bankrupt individual that we now call president has done more harm to our nation than all the others that came before him. However, he will be allowed to finish his term because we Haitians are so tired of the constant political turmoils.
