Larry,

You asked: "if the government is as bad as two of you seem to say, whomever the government is accountable to should take the action appropriate to it in light of the circumstances?"

First, which the two of us who thinks the government is that bad?

Larry - if you read all the posts by Linda and me, you'd see neither one of us, says anything about "the government is bad." Our complaints have been in terms of the "incompetence, mediocrity" of the government to get anything done.

On the other hand, Rtf seems to believe the government is bad and irrelevant, and therefore, the Haitians people and the Haitian diaspora need to, or must, and should forget about the government doing anything.

Rtf believes it is up to to us, the Haitian people, to take charge in cleaning up the streets of P-A-P and fixing the country.

Linda and me know better.

Regardless of one's resentment and disdain for the government, but for anyone who understands government function, job and responsibility would acknowledge that nothing is possible without the government's involvement, the government's leadership, and having the government setting the tone for whatever that is needed to get done.

There are many Haitians, however, who seem to be living in a fantasy world who believe that the government is completely irrelevant in fixing up the country and being accountable for anything.

If we are talking about a soup kitchen to provide a hot meal to poor kids, I agree that the participation of the government is not needed.

However, if we are talking about cleaning up the streets of P-A-P, or building road, or reforming the school system, building a modern health care system, communication system, etc...

etc...it would be idiotic, moronic, naive, and intellectually bankrupt for anyone to believe that the full and total participation of the government is not needed.

And this has been my argument and Linda's as well.
