Touris Lokal I know of those days of which you speak.
YOu see even though there was corruption in the government back then like alomst every country.
We still had a true government building infrasturctre like the perlige dam. Those days even withe the Maqoutes were great days for Haiti.
We had alot of things going for her that we don't have now. Only if when the Lavalas came to power, they made SOME steps to add on to the litle improvments we had we would be alot better off. But what we have in office are a bunch of oppurtunist.
Looking at Haiti today there are great benefits from solar energy, with our hot sun. Also wind energy in our mountains.
Or even wave energy in the ocean which could power our whole country.
Look at how much ocean we have. There are many means for Haiti to have safe clean renewable energy.
If only we had a competent president not a sitting duck (rene preval) we could take these educated ideas and put them to work. Poor country our not we have enough straps to make this work. After supplying the country with energy there will be no need to continue chopping our trees down for fuel. We can start a mass replanting project a true one which will guarntee that the new trees won't be cut down. These trees help keep our soil in place so they aren't washed out by waves.
Also they keep the air cleaner in busy cities like P-AU-P. They aslo help to maintian that hot weather.
It is time for us to think wisely and push for progress one step at at time. But however slow we progress we cannot stop moving.
