You are certainly right that Creole is not the cause of Haiti's problems.

But encouraging the learning of English as a second language is positive strategy.

English is not just the language of business, science, technology, engineering and most of the international tourism industry among other fields, it is more and more commonly used as the language which non-native speakers of other languages use to speak to each other.

When tomorrow's Haitians are doing business deals with Chinese, Indonesians, Russians, Arabs Mexicans, Brazilians, Indians and Americans, English will be the language that both parties will use. English gives them access to more of the worlds satellite TV channels, movies, Internet content and scientific documents than any other language.
