Let us clarify this: Authoritarian is characterised by the principle of blind obedience to authority.
Authoritative approach for instance you tell the child what he or should do, or cannot have, and explain why. You talk to the child not at the child.
Adolf Hitler was raised in an authoritarian household in Austria.
His father was a custom official, he was quick tempered and overly strict.
Hitler was beaten often.
He did not have a happy childhoo. When he became a teenager he quarreled with his father often, he became moody and discontent.
He drop out of school at 16 years of age. Hitler had wanted to become an artist but his father had other plans for him. He left home and went to Vienna but was rejected by the Academy of Art. He remained in Vienna anyway and sold his traditional paintings of landscapes and buildings to art dealers who were mostly Jewish who took advantage of him, for Jews do not feel that they have to treat you fairly in business if you are not Jewish.
How different the world would have been if Hitler had had a happy childhood without the abuse.
How different the 20th century would have been if he had become an artist.
There would not have been the extermination of the Jews, homosexuals, Gypsies under the pretext of "Racial Hygiene", there would not have been a systematic extermination of "Life unworthy of Life" for the mentally ill and handicapped people and no Swastika which by the way was a Hindu's religious symbol during the 5 and 6 century which meant "Conducive To Well Being".
Let us stop the cycle of Violence.
