In my case, I'm not against Haiti having an army, I'm against the type of army "machan'n peyi Montressor wa vle cree ya. I strongly oppose the type of army he wants to create, because Montressor wants to create an aggressive army that will be training to fight wars. While Haiti has no known enemies.
I will support a candidate who wish to create small well trained army or a national guard which would be responsible for protecting the nation's land and sea borders.
A type of army that would respond to natural disasters.
We don't need an army who is going to be involved in the day to day life of Haitians that's not the job of an army.
A country like Haiti doesn't need an army who will be training to fight wars like Montressor suggested.
Whatever disputes that maybe going on around the world we don't need to get involved.
It will cost a lot of money to maintain and equip an army who is capable of fighting international wars effectively.
Haiti doesn't have that kind of money and it's just not necessary.
The only country we need to concern ourselves with is the Dominican Republic, i believe we have to keep them in check.
By that I'm not saying we should ever attack them unprovoked but I believe we should be strong enough that we can prevent and forcefully respond to any attacks from the Dominicans.
Montressor seems to have no common sense and it angers me to see a man who wants to run for president and yet understand so little.
If I was chosen to provide security for Haiti, like said above
1. I would reestablish a very small well equipped, well trained army to protect our land and sea borders, help in times of natural disasters and to keep a watchful eye on the Dominican Republic.
2. I would increase the number of police officers throughout the country.
And make sure they are well trained and well equipped.
And before any recruit enters the police academy I would thoroughly investigate their backgrounds to sure they are clean.
And I would continue to periodically check their backgrounds to make sure they are staying away from corruptions.
I would pay them well and pay them regularly.
That way I can come down on them with a heavy hand whey they cheat.
I would do the same thing the US does for all federal agents.
I would have to know about their finances and associations.
If an officer suddenly has a lump sum of money or buy an expensive car or house he or she would have explain where the money came from.
3. I would create what I call the GBI= General Bureau of Investigation.
That agency would be like the FBI it would work with the police to effectively investigate and fight sorts of crimes and corruptions.
