You are foolish into thinking that no one on THIS SIDE of the the world is considered an American.
Yes there are different countries but the all reside in THE AMERICAS.
People tend to forget that and assume that coming to the United States is coming to America.
That is not correct.
If you come to the United States, you come to the United States OF AMERICA.
The U.S. is only part of a major piece of geography much like people in Europe are not only Europeans but also citizens of the respective nations (which are PART of EUROPE).
Haven't you noticed on paper work given by the government that it never asks if you are an American citizen but it does ask if you are U.S. CITIZEn.
Very big difference.
I do undertand the Latino question.
I would not consider Haitians Latino but Latin American (yes because of the latin derived French spoken by many).
You can choose to call yourself whatever but it is important for all of us to know that we are Americans just not citizens of the United States.
It is such a mistake that many people make.

Thank you for having explained that to them so perfectly clear. The reason why Haitians are latinos is due to the fact that the region itself is called Latin America and Haiti is part of the Latin American Countries and it does not stop at the Borde
