Self respect

It is true that "self respect should be a virtue," but remember that we are not born with cultural virtues, they are thought to us. If a person does not have anyone in their immediate surrounding to teach them virtues, than they simply cannot have them. I can't recall how many times I heard people in my environment say that values and virtues which affect manners cannot be learned from a book. The only way they really become ingrained in a person's character is through family traditions.
We all loose our cool at times and say things we shouldn't, or thing that show us an ugly light.
But those of us who have values and virtues know that a simple "sorry" can wipe the slate clean and show that we are civilized beings.
So, when you meet a person whom you notice seems to not have the ability to realize that they lost their civility, chances are that person never had values and virtues to begin with, and you getting angry at them will not actually make them have those values and virtues that you are looking for. I truly love this sight; it gives me a chance to meet people like you and some of the others who, like me, are desperately seeking answers for crucial Haitian issues.
I love my country to the point of stupidity, and this sight keeps me connected.
