Lionne,
I hear you and I do understand where you're coming from. I to am against child abuse in Haiti and I have been talking about that on this blog for a long time now.
However, my interpretation of child abuse and yours seems to be two different concepts.
It is without a doubt you're adopting US-style and principle of child abused and want to apply it in Haiti.
Unfortunately, Americans have been talking lately about bringing "spanking" back into the homes and the schools.
I hope you are aware of this conversation and following it closely.
Reason: Americans claim of losing control of their children through bad behavior and being disrespectful etc.., and realized it was a mistake to get rid of spanking.
There is a big difference between disciplining a child and child abuse.
In Haiti, the culture adopts corporal punishment in form of "spanking" to discipline children, and there is nothing wrong with that.
I remember my last spanking, I was only 9 years old. My butt felt off my derriere and was forced to pick it up off the ground and run with it in my hand. Contrary to the psychologist propaganda, I am not violent in any shape and form. The same goes for my children and all Haitian children.
Haitian parents don't beat their children to death nor to the point of ending in the hospital.
In fact, Haitian students, in US-schools, are being praised all over for being so polite, well behaved, and therefore so focused on their education.
They are all loved, admired, and cherished by their teachers.
In Haiti, schools and teachers have no problems of disrespect, and bad behaviors from students.
In terms of child abuse that's involved sexual abuse, molestation, rape, child slavery (restavek), high crime and violence perpetrated against them MUST stop. And I can't agree with you more!
However, since there are no laws protecting children and women in Haiti, the burden of exposing the perpetrators out in public rests on our shoulders.
We must be their voices, their defenders, and their advocates.
I am ready and willing to expose publically anyone who has committed any act of violence against children and women in Haiti.
I will post their pictures, their names, their marital status, their addresses, and their occupation on the internet so everyone can see.
Would anyone else get involved to fight this cancer against children and women or do we prefer stand on the sidewalk and keep blowing hot air while these children are being attacked by these scum monsters?
