Concerning Tortuga Project - to George, Hi, a few quick essential points for historical accuracy.

What happened was the Spaniard colonists did not exterminate the native population through enslavement like the French did on the Haitian side. So a number of DR people are clearly native taino.

But before Haiti's independence, the maroon slaves from St Domingue found safe heaven over the border into the DR..

Unfortunately over the years, they have become more and more prejudice about skin complexion.

Well, Haiti must fix its internal affairs before dealing with the DR - Haiti antagonism.
