Zac, I thank you for your encouragement and I appreciate the mutually honest and intelligent discussion with you even thou our opinions are different about the candidates.
Even thou, President Rene Preval and Mr. Jude Celestin or the UNITY party admits there were some irregularities and even frankly frauds in the elections, they did not admit that they are or their partisans were actually the architects of these frauds.
We must be careful not to form our opinions on assumptions.
An intelligent person always and incessantly seeks the truth.
I form my opinions on the foundation of the truth that I find.
Besides, the CEP reported that they received cases of frauds from 56 bureaus out of about 1600 bureaus of vote. That is a percentage of about 4%.
Please help me with the numbers if you think they are not correct.
There is a democratic process well in progress in Haiti.
We had about 19 candidates in the process, now we are down to 2. I frankly think that many of our candidates have done or say things that have irreparably damaged their political career; others may have definitely committed political suicide already.
1) I personally think that Mrs. Mirlande Manigat should have not associated herself with Mr. Michel Martelly on the basis of morality alone; and certainly absolutely not to declare that the elections should be annulled last Sunday.
I personally think that was an immature, insecure and premature decision from her part.
2) I think that Mr. Michel Martelly (and the other unsuccessful candidates of the first tour) should have publicly demand the protestors to refrain from going off the streets of Haiti in violent protests that have caused lost of lives and destruction of properties.
But, rather they should with their lawyers have initiated the legal process of contestation according to the provisions of the electoral laws in place.
I think his failure to anticipate and prevent the lost of these lives and destruction of properties reveals a lack of confidence and effective leadership on his end. It seems that he did not even know that the results of Tuesday are not definitive.
3) Now, we are down to our other candidate: Mr. Jude Celestin.
I have visited many web sites that are hostile to President Rene Preval and to him. This is why I am here Zac. I am here to learn ...
so that when comes January, I will have enough information to decide patriotically and responsibly.
Zac, I may not have a reason why we should let Mr. Jude Celestin have 5 years at the supreme direction of our country.
However, I am still asking myself why we shouldn't.
