You are right, President Obama is setting a good example and is encouraging the public to fill out the census form as it is used as a vital method to establish basic needs of the Country and is also a way of establishing or addressing the needs of America.The population composition must be thoroughly detailed.

The population by gender, by age, race, level of education, marital status and income level.

"Minorities" and lower income people, generally distrust government and its intrusion.

They at times feel that their voices will NOT be heard.The government will simply allocate to communities what ever budget that was specifically designated for them anyway...Census taken every decade is a another way to measure birth and death rate curve of the country and thereby providing necessary services from nursery schools to nursing homes.

The country needs to know the background of ALL of its constituents so that their needs can be met. It is a country that let you be who you are because they need everybody's vote to be in office...and...the public have to be kept reasonably happy...Ethnicity is politic in America and race....is definitely one of them....

In fact, yes, Census bureau always want to find out about people with diverse backgrounds to define human needs.

Like multiracial backgrounds more often require bilingual education and or "ethnic sensitivity" awareness programs.

The choices are usually:White, non-Hispanic, Black, non-Hispanic, Hispanic:White, Black, Indian, Then Others and they may ask for a definition.

Hispanics are usually considered Multiracial.

President Obama is a politician, after all....He has to identify with African-American, as he is a true African-American.

His father being African and his mother an American.

Racially, He is biracial but the political game had to be played...He had to be politically correct, more precisely without the Black votes and endorsement, his presidency would have been jeopardized.

Haitians should definitely fill out the census form not only for obvious reasons in terms of social services but also for political representation.

(number of votes we represent to America).

That is the bottom line.
