Haitian Amputees

< Previous | Home | Next >

Dear President Preval:
From what I have read about the plight of many of the earthquake amputees on the internet it seams to me that it has been rather stupid to spend so many resources to save them only to now abandon them to the filth and squalor of the tarp covered refugee camps.

If there are heavy rains over the next two months or a category "3" hurricane during the four months following (not to mention malaria & dengue feaver etc.) then we can probably expect to lose 25-50% of the amputees.

Wouldn't a better solution be for your government to arrange with other countries to take them into basic care at least until the threat of severe weather is over in Haiti?

Any military commander values his injured troops enough to remove them to the safety of the "rear lines" lest they catch another bullet while in recovery.

You are the defacto military commander of Haiti and the enemy is Mother Nature.

I have a lot more to say if you are interested in listening.
