A world of problems

< Previous | Home | Next >

Two centuries ago our ancestors devastated the French army one the mightiest defense forces in the world at the time. And founded the first black republic.

The US was able to buy Lousiana for a killer price from the French in what is called the Lousiana Purchase.

At the time the Louisiana Purchase wasn't just the acquisition of the state of Louisiana.

The amount of land the US bought makes 23 % of its modern day size. This all happened because our forefathers laid waste to the French army. A terrible blow to French imperialism.

Yet many who succeeded these great warriors did nothing but destroying such a dignified history.

We went from being the second oldest Republic in the Americas to being the poorest.

As if that was not enough we went and got ourself the title, one of the most corrupted countries in the world.

Preval may not be a world leader but he has a world of problems to deal with in Haiti.

So we must be realistic because he's not going to solve everything in 5 years.

And it's impossible for his government to create jobs for every haitians.

No government in any country can do that. We must be patient.

However when it comes to the insecurity issues we can't be patient or uncomplaining.

This kidnapping phenomenon is a menace to Haitian society and history.

If not brought under control Haiti might cease to exist as sovereign state.

For the country to develop every haitian has to contribute and one of Haiti's great asset is the millions of Haitians living abroad.

We have a lot to offer, in terms of money and expertise.

The best think Preval can do is to create an environment that is conducive to investment.

To invest there must be security.

The UN is not going to solve the insecurity Preval needs to come with a great plan to solve the insecurity issue, he's already late on that but it's not too late. I advise that he create a gendarme force to complement the police.

And secondly he needs to waqe war on corruption, and clean up the justice system.

I was suprise when nobody said anything to the judges who went on strick because it was said that they contributed to the insecurity by releasing criminals who bribed them. Some that is true. With security and justice Haitians and foreign investors will start investing in Haiti.
