Dear RPT, the concept of using solar energy for Haiti is a great one. However, there are things that you must first take into consideration.

Assuming that solar energy panels are placed throughout certain sectors of the country, what is the incentive for the poor not to steal and resell them?

The reality is that when you have a population that's starving, they will do whatever is necessary to feed themselves and their families--including deprive both themselves and others of electricity.

So, until a solution for feeding the population is in place, perhaps spreading solar panels all over the country is not a wise idea. Just a thought...
