Once again, you and the other guy due to lack of info are engaging in futile analysis.

1. Jean-Claude was not a president - he was a nominated Head of State by his father (just a reminder a president is an elected Head of State of a republic)
2. Were there tourists in Haiti in the 1920's or you just dont know?

3. Haiti has been the poorest in term of real capita for over 130 years or so - you need to look at agregate info not just your little corner of the world when you were living back home. (Analysis based on little info is what you are doing)
4. There was pageant in Haiti long before 1980-82.
5. No people ever need a dictatorship under any circumstances (Duvalier or else).

The propaganda machine has gotten you too sadly.

6. Nord Alexis was a treacherous as Duvalier - well you may as well try to bring back Nord Alexis why ever bother with Duvalier himself.
