why are we buying trash?

Francois I was hoping you could clarify something for me. A while back you mentioned that Haiti buys trash from the US. Sure enough I was watching CSI MIAMI on TV and one of the actors said The city of Coral Gable in Florida ships its trash to Haiti.

I was wondering what do we gain from buying trash?

Don't we have enough trash in the streets of Haiti.

We can't even dispose our own trash so why are we buying more from the US. I would appreciate it if you could elaborate on the matter.
