Hey Djakut, great article.

Although it was somewhat bias, it did provide lots of information, and I finally know enough about this woman to make a rational decision about her suitability for the post. Below I've quoted the points that bothers me most about her nomination.

1. "elle s'amusait dans le culturel sans mettre en place des structures solides."

Me. I've said many times that a good heart and good will is not enough to run a country.

That a good national leader must understand how to formulate a country's infrastructure and structure.

Yes to do that one must understand the national culture, but knowing the culture does not give an understanding of what makes national structures and infrastructures work. For example, MD P-L could have been hired as a cultural adviser by a Prime Minister who should be a person who actually went to school to learn how political and economic structures and infrastructures work. Two people like that would make a formidable team. But this candidate's experience in cultural issues cannot be the primary tools for someone who is about to lead a failed nation.

2. "PAS D'EXPERIENCES POLITIQUES La dame n'a aucune experience politique."

Me. Again, another person hired NOT on their merit but on the buddy system. Why else would someone with no political experience be selected as a candidate to lead the country.

3. "Sa maitrise en economie administrative à Queens College de New York n'est pas cotée au top niveau mais elle l'a obtenu a un niveau tres moyen, avec un relevé de> notes ou un transcript tres bas."

Me. Those of us who teach in academia know that there's a big difference between an "A" and a "C" student, and a great difference between what the two types of student can accomplish.

Furthermore, we also know that a degree from Queens College if fine for the average person, but that it does not meet the academic level that should be expected of a national leader (no disrespect intended).

But the most important point being that if you get a "C" at Queens College chances are that you would have completely failed at any one of the ivy league universities.

Furthermore, if we what to know what a "C" student can accomplish, all we have to do is look at Bush.

---The above points are purely empirical and I was able to consider them purely on their own merit.--

However, the next few points that I got from the article were used by the author only to stir emotional reactions and should not be part of the consideration.

Let me show you why.

1. "Michele Duvivier etait a l'epoque> une petite espionne du regime sanguinaire des Duvaliers."

Me. My family suffered a lot at the hands of those who were part of Duvalier's sanguine regime.

However, as you know, I tend to put aside my emotional baggage when it comes to politics.

To accuse MD P-L of being a spy for the Duvaliers without proof is not useful to our selection process.

Besides, although I was young during this period in history, it seems to me that most Haitians who had not been kicked-out of the country were in bed with the Duvaliers in one way or another (I said most).

So, unless there's some proof that this woman was a spy for Duvalier, bringing up this point is just gossip not empirical data that can be use for her nomination.

2. "elle aime les femmes, les bonnes ou mauvaises langues pretendent qu'elle vit avec une femme, Loraine Mangones, (une autre jolie fille de jeremie ).

Peut on confier le Poste de Premier Ministre a quelqu'un qui> n'a pas la morale necessaire, qui ne peut servir de modele moral?"

Me. What the h.e.l.l (sorry) does her sexual preference have to do with how intelligent she is and her ability to run the country.

This sounds like a comment coming from one of those American religious fanatics who love to impose their morality (not that they really have any)on everybody else.

In my opinion, MD P-L does not have the qualifications to be named PM, but I base my opinion on the first three points made in the article, 1. no political experience, 2. low grades from a low level school, 3. never created structures or infrastructures for the organization that she does run. My opinion is not based on such emotional jerkers as who she does or does not sleeps with.
