La vie was always chere in Haiti according to some. Haiti was always a place where unfortunate one had to struggle to survive.

There were always groups suffering.

Yes, the Haitians were proud, had dignity, and respected themselves, but Haitians lived in fear. One could not express its true opinion for fear of governemental procecution.

I left Haiti when I was very young, at that time, I used to be one of those privileged one who had the illusion that living in Haiti was great because then I did not understand the struggle of my parents to provide me with my wants, and basic necessities.

I became of Age in the 1979, then Tonton Macoute was in vogue, then the Attaches, then the Lavalas, the Zinglindos the rat pakkas, the grin nan boudas and prior to those countless terrorizing groups.

My generation has not benefited from the Haiti of which the author mentioned.

In brief, yes, we need a new concensus.

Those in leadership position need new direction, new guidelines to bring Haiti to light; as evident by what is happening in Haiti, the old ones did not work and are not working.

One day Haiti will truly be La perle Des Antilles for all Haitians
