I do understand your point.
But it will not be an easy task as you migh think.
La Gonave might be peacful now but, as soon as it beccomes an independant states the fight for power will beging.
The international community, specially US, will not be happy to have another problem in the Caraibean.
La Gonave does not have the resources to sustian itself as an independant state.
So it will be more beneficial for them to take advantage of the sucurity they enjoy to devolop the island.
It will take a huge amount of time to get international recognition if you ever get it.
If the haitians who are living in the diaspora were smart enought, they should think about investing a lot in La Gonage.
Believe me, if things getting better in Haiti, the foreingers will do it!
You don't have to through Port-au-prince to go to La Gonave.
La Ganave can have its own international airport.
Beleive me this island could be a tramendous source of revenue for the whole contry.
