A while back I read a statement on this site calling on us Haitians to divorce the past and focus on the future.

Our country is at a point where we must do what our ancestors did; they made sacrifices for the freedom and prosperity of our country as a whole.

They fought for Haiti alone.

Aristide is a controversial character.

He's loved by millions, he's also hated by millions.

Trust me on this my friend if Aristide was to go back to Haiti tomorrow all hell would break loose.

You would have thousands rejoicing while others would be seeking revenge, his presence could very well start a civil war. This generation needs to concentrate on the problems of Haiti.

You spoke of the different projects you support in Haiti to help haitians, you should focus your energy and money on that. You're just going to create more problems for the country if you bring up Aristide.

You reacted very aggressively when the other guy accused Aristide, you're going to find people who react the same way when you try to impose your views on them. I give Preval major point for avoiding the Aristide subject, if he had focused on it; it would've destroyed his government by now. Honestly my friend I don't think you or the opposition care the truth when it comes to Aristide you've already made up your mind, i doubt any concrete evidence would cause both you and them to reconsider.

Both groups want to be right and they will twist the truth to prove their point.

And that's very selfish.

The best thing would be, to create a fact finding commission without any prejudice 15 or 20 years from now to investigate all the leaders in question from the past 50 years.

Whatever the truth maybe, the country doesn't need for the moment it's not ready for it. You should ask yourself whether your actions will help Haiti right now, will it bring peace or division?

The same thing applies to those who are so quick to condemn Aristide.

Both groups need to give the country a chance just for once we need to let go of our pride and self-interest; and unite to pull Haiti from the abyss.

For us to become the first black republic our ancestors were able to let go of selfishness and risk their lives so Haitians today would know what freedom is. And this is how we honor their sacrifice.

They manage to put the country first why can't we.
