New laws aimed at curbing illegal migration in the Caribbean have left thousands of first generation Dominicans unable to work, study or travel.

Authorities in the Dominican Republic in charge of issuing documents no longer recognise sons and daughters of Haitians as citizens even though the Constitution does.

Many say it is because of the colour of their skin.
