Jean-Jacques Dessalines was born in the same neighborhood (katye) with my grandpa, in Grande-Riviere du Nord.
Ti bononm yap bay pou Henry Christophe la, there is no concensus among the so-called historians that he was really born in Grenada.
Nevertheless, Henry Christophe fought in the American Revolution War of independence in Savannah Georgia, in 1776. He was only 17 years old (that was clair child abuse by the George Washington).
Henry Christophe became the very FIRST Black General in the US Army. History claims that there were 50 troupes under his commend.
After the war ended, majority of the Haitian soldiers settled in Louisiana (New Orleans) as they were allowed by George Washington.
But little Henry Christophe went back to Haiti to become king of Haiti, the greatest king of all time.
In 2003, Savannah mayor, Floyd, finally erected a monument in a public park to honor the Haitian soldiers' participation in the US independence war against the British occupation.
All (the ceremony) was done in silence without the local and national media coverage, and the world must know why. Of course, it was about a bunch of Haitians with black skin, so who cares.
This is how Americans show their gratitude to black people who gave them their freedom from the British occupation.
