The Bidonvilles Must be Contained

Lionne says...

I am a Lionne in charge of typing for the day. I noticed your comment Mak. I would like to take a minute to answer.

One of our members felt since the insecurity seems to be emerging from the Bidonvilles, they have to be contained.

Since Port-au-Prince can only hold 200thousand people and it has an estimated population of 2million.

The residents of the Bidonvilles must move to the provinces, specifically those who do not have a job. The middle class, and business owners cannot live in fear or they will move out of the country just like so many others did during the past decades.

The criminals are preventing Haiti from attracting tourists, international and diaspora businesses, They must leave the capital.

Land distribution in remote areas to allow the bidonville residents to earn a living might help. The hard decisions have to be made to save Port-au-Prince and eventually Haiti.

When I (this Lionne) lived in Queens we used to leave our bicycles outside and run inside for lunch or dinner.

After they built a housing project for the poor on a huge land area a few blocks down the road, 56 out of 60 houses in our area were broken into. They broke into our garages and homes in broad day light.

Those African-american teenagers were hanging around the bus stop trying to sell drugs to children, and teenagers and the adults were walking their mangy dogs at night scoping our homes.

Within two years the Italians moved out of the neighborhood.

When we tried to sell our house ten years later we found out that our property value had gone down. The Bidonvilles must be contained at all cost, we cannot put a band-aid on them. We have no other comments until our next meeting.

Haiti have foreigners trampling its soil, they may loose the "sac with the crabs" "sack la at tout crab la" as the Haitian saying goes. The elite and middle class are not the ones causing the insecurity of the country. The Bidovilles pauses a serious > >

Lionel2, you're absolutely right. Insecurity is always caused by poverty. We should encourage them to move back to where they came from. You have to have skills in order to live in P-AU-P. These people have nothing. P-au-p was not built for 2 million > >

Hello All. Long time no talk. I see that we have quite a few new bloggers. And it was really good to see that the conversation had gone back to our normal discussions and arguments instead of the insane Malbranche thing that was going on when I left > >
