Hi, Thank you Mr. Peters for your concern toward my beloved Haiti.

Certainly, Wyclef is great patriot and we thank him every day for showing true love for the land of his ancestors.

However, I am afraid you fall also into the same category of well-intentioned foreigners with an ethnocentric attitude toward Haiti: One great foreign mind will sit on foreign land and devise a solution for a complex country.

You want to know how complex Haiti is. I will tell you:
1. First slavery emancipated black nation
2. Legacy of massacre of white population
3. General diplomatic and economic embargo from the world super powers starting in 1801 and you know whom.
4. World isolation after 1804.
5. Poster nation and quintessential example to drive home the idea blacks cannot rule themselves.

6. The only francophone nation who does not speak French.

7. The only nation in the new world who banned foreign ownership of land for over a century
8. The only nation in the new world with a animist religion -voodoo- an indication of resistance toward imported religion
9. The only nation that had to pay for its independence with its blood and its cash
10 The only country occupied by the Americans that benefited almost nothing concrete and lasting even after 19 years of occupation
11. The only country that attracted some many carpetbaggers
12. The only country that France cites as an example to deter Martinique against becoming independent from France
13. The only country where they all want to dump their toxic debris
14. The only country that is one of the seven signs that the end for mankind is near.
13. The only country accused of syphillis and aids; innocent that we are, they're looking for all kind of convoluted connections to attach AIDS to Haiti - how you're going to bring to tourist back with such reputation?

And I can go on and on. Frankly, there is no shortage of solutions for Haiti already written on paper by both Haitians and foreign international organizations; I will spare you the list. On a rare couple of occasions in the past, Haiti got it together.

But unfortunately, the constant foreign intervention (the carpetbaggers) always cause strife and dissidence among a people that have suffered so much already.

It's not that the Haitian never tried a solution, it's the invisible hand that always stands as an obstacle in Haiti's pursuit of happiness.

Thanks

Hi Greg, i like your ideas. I had similar ideas about the island of La Gonave, i thought about getting Donald Trump etc. to built resorts and casinos on the island. Then, by curiosity today i started to read people's posts and i ended up reading your > >

Hi, By the way, how many Haitians actors are starring in that movie. Why isn't Fabienne Colas playing the role of Toussaint's mistress; Fabienne is our great hope. Thanks > >

I had a similar idea to develop the island of la Gonave as a tourist resort independent of whatever might be going on in Haiti ( not as elaborate as yours of course) But you are missing one major point here: with so many mediocre thieves working in t > >

All you are saying is very true. My advice to all Haitians diaspora and natives is to unite and be positive. You have to come together and work as one. I believe that it is possible to soften ignorant people and help them love their people and the > >

Haitian actors would be nice but that is the least important issue. The main issue is to expose Haiti to the world. Most people around the world are not very well educated and do not know world history. They do not know the importance Haiti played > >

All you have said about countries such as France, the United States, the Dominican Republic and other countries isolating Haiti, raping Haiti, stealing from Haiti, giving Haiti a bad reputation and so forth is true. The Bible says that the meek will > >

Hello. Thank you for responding to my message. I am glad to see that you care about Haiti as well. A little bit about myself: I am a retired entertainment promoter from New York City. I now live in the Dominican Republic (at least half of the ti > >

Hi, a few quick essential points for historical accuracy. Haiti only occupied DR under J-P Boyer for only 22 years and the Dominincans invited Haiti to take over ( yes they invited Haiti in) as protection against Spain. So, they need to check their o > >
