Marge, I don't expect, or desire, for ONE SINGLE Haitian to go
On the topic of THE FORGOTTEN BLACK BOURGEOISIE, Marge, I don't expect, or desire, for ONE SINGLE Haitian to go back to Haiti, and I was very critical of the wet feet/dry feet rule as it applies only to Cubans, as if they are more deserving than Haitians for a better future.
It was heart-breaking to watch Haitians get caught only a mile off the Miami shore and turned around, or caught in Miami proper and deported, when Cubans were coming in by the thousands.
I know a lot about the subject of the Cubans, as my Daughter is quarter-Cuban, and thereby has African blood running through her veins...
The only thing I can guess is that American policy towards Haitians is motivated by cultural fear and racism.
Together, they are a formidable, but not insurmountable, obstacle.
We can go on and on about this subject, but it is pointless unless there is compromise.
One thing I have learned about Haitians in general is that they have a temper problem, and tend to curse at the very same people whose help they need most.
I will stop here, before I say something that is misunderstood.
