Mass immigration to US does not include Haiti at the top of the list. Countries like the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Eastern Europe to name a few.
In fact if US truly wanted to help, much more legal Haitians to America should have been an option.
America, early next decade will face a shortage of home health care workers for the so-called "Baby Boomers", people who were born in America between 1946 to 1964, will need personal care at home. This workforce is ill-prepared to assume the task. This job sector requires minimal training, why can't Haitians cornered that market, instead of fighting over existing ones...?
I do understand a good portion of Haitians are already working in this field. Why can't we position ourselves for this sector at the managerial level?
America, whether we like it or not, is a land made of immigrants.
Why is Haiti being singled out?
The Haitian Diaspora has to look for new emerging markets...
We need to survive and prosper like any other immigrants who "made it" before us.
Realistically speaking, not all of us can go back to Haiti.
I believe the ones who can should go back to help...
Mass exodus back to Haiti will only exacerbate animosity between the Haitian Bourgeois and the Haitian Diaspora...
