Pertaining to Le Retour En Masse De Tous Les Exiles Haitiens Le 07 Fevrier 2011, First of all let me say I am very proud of how enlightened the Haitian people are. Everyone who is saying we need to forgive and move on is right.
The fact that they did not kill him on arrival shows that the people have forgiven him. That does not mean he should not be tried and imprisoned.
You are right; his death will not bring the dead back. But out of respect for those young men and women who died for all of us. The reason you or I or any Haitians can discuss our politics so openly is because of all these young men and women who sacrificed their lives.
Some who knowingly sacrificed themselves and others who did not even want a part of politics but were killed just because these people who were in power had no regard for the greatest assets the country had (young men and women).
Any Haitians who did not value the lives of so many of our brothers and sisters, does not deserve to be a part of our society.
What is to stop him from taking over again with a few goons and repeat his act?
I say cut the tree before it gets rooted.
I don't think he should be killed; I think he should be forced to stay in Haiti and forced to live among the people in the misery he helped to create.
Of course I am joking about having him live among the people.
He is not good enough to live among our people, but he should be jailed in Haiti.
I think it has been estimated that between he and his father they killed about 40,000 people; he should be given a day in jail for each person they killed.
I think a day in jail for each mother, father, son, and daughter he or his representatives/employees killed is not too much to ask. Everyone who thinks he has a lot to offer the country in terms of wisdom and experience, great.
He can share his wisdom while behind bars, that's a great way for him to make amends and to prove he has finally learned to appreciate his country and his people.
The Key word is "deterrent" not "revenge".
A way to remind any goon who thinks he/she would like to be president for life at the expense of our people, why it might not be worth it.
