Le Retour En Masse De Tous Les Exiles Haitiens Le 07 Fevrier 2011

Toulimen says...

you said let bygone be bygone.I assume you had not lost any loved ones during the duvalierist regimen. If you had lost someone, you now would not have said let bygone be bygone. You would be one of those people who ask to haul off duvalier to jail, wh > >

Wawa you have to understand that a lot of people benefited when Duvalier was in power and it wouldn't surprise me if it is these same people who are now applauding and saying let bygone be bygone. And you notice how they call for some exiles to come > >

There will never be any reconstruction and we will never move forward if we do not learn to hold people accountable. A society that does not enforced the rule of law cannot know peace and prosperity. We should always punish the guilty to deter others > >

One can only punish one judicially if there were proper procedures. In Jean Claude case, there is no outstanding warrant and judicial procedures that was renewed to keep up with in accordance with the law. i.e. complaints have to be renewed every 10 > >

Zac I do agree with you that Haitian political leaders should be held accountable for their crimes against the state of Haiti, but we do not have a penitentiary system to hold them in jail. We have created a lawless state and Haitian leaders want to > >

I applaud you for your hunger for reconciliation and forgiveness, but most countries have laws to prevent and to punish those leaders who commits crimes against humanity. That is why we have the human rights commision. Furthermore what about justice > >

Sometimes we do have to make hard choices in life. When life throws you unexpected curves, it is up to you to correct them. We can't always go by rule of thumbs. Right now, Haiti calls for very hard, objectives and mature decisions. In a perfect wor > >

First of all let me say I am very proud of how enlightened the Haitian people are. Everyone who is saying we need to forgive and move on is right. The fact that they did not kill him on arrival shows that the people have forgiven him. That does not m > >

I am going to start with the last part of your post my sister where you want deterrence to be applied into Haitian politics instead of revenge. This is a strong word, but how can we deter crimes in a lawless country with no democratic institutions to > >
