With regard to Haiti: An outcast country among responsible states in the Caribbean Region, Antonio, What's up?
I have seen your blogs on other non-Haitian sites, particularly Dominican's. You are usually logical, thoughtful, knowledgeable and pro-Haitian-Dominican reconciliation.
I even thought that you were Haitian...because of the way that you have fervently defended Haiti...AntonioJ, right?
or am I mistaken?
either ways, in the name of humanity, a little bit of discretion would have been more helpful...
I do understand your frustration and anger but they are directed at the wrong people.
In fact, we should entirely dismissed the blame game as it is pointless, divisive and unproductive.
Separate the sense from the non-sense -- Can't you see the real victims here are the masses.
(Haitians who truly want to have a normal peaceful life).
They are the true puppets in the hands of those demagogues and charlatans who are supposedly guiding them...I have indeed seen the videos, they are revoltingly perverse in its violence and even more so in conditions to which human beings are subjected to live. Keep in mind those videos are conveniently appeared at the right time....Coincidence?
No way!! Admittedly, Haiti is a tough place with tough circumstances and tough people.
Let us hope this time, the UN is not just there for voyeurism...The whole world is WATCHING, this time....transparency is the word. Most importantly the Haitians are tired.
They want REAL change and are less tolerant of political parasites.
Words of caution though, Duvalier MUST DIE for real; as long as the Duvalierist-tontonmacoutist MENTALITY is alive and is in operation, nothing will change.
Being that this mentality is 53 years old (1957-2010) and 65% of the population is under 20; for the most part uneducated, and a willingness to ghange is a monumental project.
Le plus grand defi c'est de changer la mentalite Haitienne.
