Dear Rene Preval,
I am very saddened over the earthquake.

I believe the demons that have ruled Haiti for centuries are leaving.

Please gather your Chritian leaders each morning and pray for the Lord's guidance as you lead and rebuild.

Please build a number of smaller communities outside of Port-au-Prince but the center of town can be rebuilt to have hotels, parks, city offices, etc. Get counsel regarding plans for each town so that it is set up properly with offices, schools, a clinic/hospital, business and factory areas, city departments, churches, fresh waters wells, etc. Do designate a number of areas in each town with vegetable gardens and orchards.

Until Haiti prospers financially consider paying teachers, health workers, and city workers with food from these gardens.

As far as possible see that each person has a job.
Please give the people counsel as they rebuild their homes or build new ones. Teach them to put up basic support beams until the house can be finished later.

I think the cement rubble can be crushed and cement mixture added to make new blocks.

The homes need to have a place for a large water container (elevated) that can feed water to the kitchen and bathroom.

The highest places in each community need wells with hoses that can reach and fill the water containers in individual homes as needed.

Teach the people how to build basic septic systems with toilets that drain to an backyard area with gravel/septic (underground) The houses in low areas need to build up a foot or so, even those in high areas should build up a couple inches.

Help each home put in a solar power system as the house is built.

It may be necessary to use solar "do-it-yourself" kits until they can afford already built solar panels.

Put the people to work in groups to build/rebuild homes/businesses/markets.

I believe foreigners would give more willingly if they were sending food, building materials, and basic supplies that would be given out as pay for people working to rebuild.

Continue teaching the people by example and teachings what is right and honest -be kind, don't steal, kill, cheat, and be faithful to your spouse, etc and then God will take care of each one and the community.

The people of Haiti have a beautiful, happy heart and you just need to bring it back.
If I can have Rene Preval's email address I will send him a sketch for the layout of smaller towns and info on how individuals can build solar power.

Will someone see that Rene Preval gets this message.

Your christian sister, Virginia Mattson

As an agronomist President Preval should know that Haiti can become self-sufficient in agriculture just like Puerto Rico and Israel. However, he needs to see this as a national priority and push for appropriate policies to implement such a program. > >
