No Tiba,
I am not blaming Haiti's failures solely on its inability to educate its people through the use of a common language.
I was stating that we ought to honor our ancestors by treating Creole with the same respect as we do any other language.
I diagree with your way of describing Haiti's failures is due to incompetence and mediocrity.
The two simple concepts you stated I believe are shortsighted, and overly simplistic.
To me it does not seem as if you regconize the depths of Haiti's problems.
Yes, incompetence and mediocrity exist in our culture, but we have to delve in further and explore the root causes.
I am not sure whether our intellectuals are doing enough to study the root causes.
Haitians must seriously study their society, and they must be brutally honest with themselves.
When I was in college I remembered studying the social disorganization theory, one thing that came to mind was that many Haitians in Haiti do not invest the energy required to improve the country because in their minds they are going to voyager aux pays etrange (my french sucks).
The recent graduate in Haiti is only concentrating on leaving the country, so noboby cares.
The people who can really make a difference are on their next flight to paradise in their minds.
Essentially, Haiti will always be screwd up irregardless how much money you throw at her.
The topic is: tongue to the motherland
