Following up on Haiti Les hommes de l'occupant par Stanley Lucas, Seriously, seriously Montresor.
Do you know why in every country in the world people are punished for their crimes Montresor?
I don't think you do, so let me tell you. Yes of course the obvious, which is to make them pay for what they did to the innocent people they hurt. But no, that is not the main reason.
The main reason why societies around the world punish people who commit crimes is to deter other people from committing the same crimes.
Punishment for doing things that hurt your society is the best way to protect that society from repeated harm. Even children know this Montresor.
But you fail to grasp this very simple concept.
A child who is not punished for bad behavior repeats that behavior, and all children in that environment also repeat that behavior because they know there's no penalty for it. Your forgive and forget approach is all well and good in your personal life, but how are you going to be a head of state if you don't even know the basic about crime and punishment.
As you seem to be a religious zealot, let me remind you that indeed Jesus himself said give on to Caesar what is due on to him. The government of a country is responsible for the justice system, and since you have no clue why a justice system is even needed, how will you protect your citizens.
Since you are willing to forgive Duvalier and Aristide for their crimes against the Haitian people, I think you should be fair and also forgive all those gangsters who are kidnapping and killing people in Haiti now. You should also forgive and forget the crimes of those people who are robbing the homes of hardworking Haitians, and let's not forget those who rape women, or molest little children.
I don't think you should have two different justice systems in your government do you?
You know...one for your favorite people and another for the rest of the Haitian people.
So, just go right ahead and apply your "forgive all" system equally for everyone and everything will be fine...Don't you think?
