Tiba, He's not defending any criminals all he said is that not...

Zac says...

Tiba, He's not defending any criminals all he said is that not every Dominican is like that. And he's right.

No doubt Haitians face institutional racism and extreme persecutions over there.

When a government choose not issue birth certificate to children of Haitians parents that's institutional racism.

When they choose not to protect Haitian migrants from persecutions and violence that's institutional racism.

The situation is grave over there.

But the moment you said "ALL Dominicans are the same. These are a bunch of racist, unhappy house slaves, hatemongers, and white wannabe facing with an identity crisis." you're wrong because you are in effect prejudging.

Some Dominicans are very proud to call themselves blacks.

Again by saying that i'm not denying that Dominicans have an obsession with being white, they do. But we cannot start putting everybody in one box that is what prejudice is.

This quote is from Zoe Saldana she starred in the movie "guest who" with Ashton Kutcher she's also in the new star trek movie.

One of her parents is Dominican.

Read what she says about what she has to deal with every time she goes to DR.

When I go to the D.R., the press in Santo Domingo always asks, "¿Qué te consideras, dominicana o americana?" (What do you consider yourself, Dominican or American?) I don't understand it, and it's the same people asking the same question.

So I say, time and time again, "Yo soy una mujer negra." ("I am a black woman.") [They go,] "Oh, no, tú eres trigueñita." ("Oh no, you are 'dark skinned'") I'm like, "No! Let's get it straight, yo soy una mujer negra." ("I am a black woman.")

I know some Dominicans and I'll the first to say that a lot of them have an obsession with being white.

Yes our brothers and sisters are facing institutional racism and persecutions over there.

But you are wrong to assume that they are all racist.

You would never assume that all white people are racist because some are racist.

The topic is: I got cut off by Haitian embassy in D. C.

I see it's very easy to misinterprete my comments. I did not defend the horrible acts commited by Dominicans against Haitians. I was just saying that these kinds of discrimination happens wverywhere. It even happens in Haiti--yes, in Haiti. The > >

Zac, Zac, Zac, C'mon! don't do me like that. My job is to challenge through critical thinking. Go over both of his messages and read between the lines of his statements you will then realize he is defending the Dominicans racist, hatred sentiment > >

I wasn't trying to say our relationship with Dominicans are all right. My gripe with your sentiment is that you seem to think that all Haitians are afraid to walk the streets of the Dominican Republic. I was just trying to tell you it's not true. > >

Tiba, I'm not here to argue with you. I'm here, however, to correct your false blanket statement that all Dominicans are racist toward people of dark-skin. I know many Dominican people. I used to go to Washington Heights in uppper Manhattan all th > >

Actually the statement Tiba made, that all Dominicans are racist toward people of dark-skin, might be a bit exaggerated, however, it is not that far from the truth. If the shoe fits, than own it. Prior to the 1980s, it was not an exaggeration to say > >
