When Haiti is a failed state.

Are we still living in our version of the past?

Haitians have not made progress as a people.

This is 2009 not 1804. What has Haiti and Haitians have to show for their revolution?

Lots of countries have had glorious pasts.

(Persians, Greeks,Romans, Wester Europe, even the United States) But their level of civilization is a testament to the trememdous efforts their ancestors made so that their lives would be better.

So what Haiti fought and won a few battles with the French?

But Haitian history while glossing over the battles, forgot to inform its people that at the end they lost the war; The French did return with war ships and more soldiers.

The only thing that kept Haiti safe was the agreement to the Bourbon King to pay the ramsom of millions and millions in gold to leave them alone.

Haiti is not even an island; It's a third of an island.

Haiti has become a mendicant state.

It breeds criminals and the Aids virus by the dozens on a daily basis.

Please stop glossing over the past. We could not retain one conquest: the other two third of our own island.

Those who fail to see their errors are doomed to repeat it. PS: Toussaint died of starvation in a cold French prison.

It has been said that those who live in the past instead of the present become losers.

They have to live in the present and learn from the past. What future does Haiti and Haitians have?

They may lose their very sovereignty if those French chose to return.

There is nothing to stop them if they really want the minerals and petroleum resources of Haiti.

The only thing standing between us and those French is a possible "Obama reaction" because no one else will help us. Not even Chavez.
