It is troubling to see our fellow citizens insulting their president! Some of them even refer to him as "Boulanger" (baker), as if baking bread is a mortal sin! One of the many reasons why we have no qualified technicians in our country is the fact that our Haitians brothers regard with disdain, and vilify those people who are or have been carpenter, baker, mason, mechanic etc...

What being a baker has to do with Preval's behavior and performance as our President?

To be a respectable individual, you do not have to be a lawyer, doctor, college professor, engineer etc. Making an honest living is not a crime.

Many of us did menial and odd jobs when we landed in the US. To survive and support those left in needs at home, we became dishwashers, tomato/beans/oranges pickers, taxi cab drivers, truck drivers, painters, housekeepers, maintenance, factory, or sanitation workers, masons, carpenters etc...

With time and assimilation, we change jobs, go to school, and earn a degree or profession to make a respectable living.

Many of us are from the far corners of our homeland, some or many of us become teachers, lawyers, nurses, doctors, engineers, social workers; mechanics, business owners etc...Some of us even perfected the tactic of deception to rob those who do manual labors by various shameful ways! Only idiots can use what a person do or did for a living to bring him down.
We must not forget that history tells us of many great individuals who had a humble past. Most of us may be all of us hear of:
Joseph: slave, Governor of Egypt.

David: shepherd, King of Israel, famous writer,
Mohammad: orphan, merchant, founder of Islam.

C. Columbus: son of a wool weaver and cheese stand owner, limited education: The greatest explorer of all time
Toussaint Louverture: former slave, Brilliant general, first black man to become governor of a colony.

Henry Christophe: slave, baker, soldier, King of Haiti.

The best Haitian administrator until now!
Abraham Lincoln: son of two uneducated farmers, formal education: about 18 months of schooling, worked on a boat, shoe maker, lawyer, president of the USA!
Ronal Reagan: lifeguard, president o of USA.
Oprah Winfrey: grew up on a farm, reporter at age 19, one of the richest women on earth!
THE GREATEST OF ALL: Jesus Christ: carpenter, preacher, Lord and Savior of all!
So, we should stop using a person's humble past put him down! What Mr RG. Preval legally did for a living should not be the focal point of criticism; instead, the debate should be on his performance and leadership as President.

Unfortunately, he continues to embarrass the nation by his behavior, incompetence and his passion for Tafia.

The topic is: TELL THE FORMER BOULANGER TO CLEAN HIS ACT UP

Well Mr Zarien Joseph had a vision and led his people out of slavery. David even though a criminal by any standard fought for his people and avenge their death and did it viciously whenever it happened and his descendants continue to do the same 200 > >

Zarien Krab I agree with almost everything you've said, but you failed to acknowledge that the way Haitians think and feel about profession/career has to do with the Haitian culture, which is a backward/primitive culture. Growing up in Haiti, I > >

Hans Duperoi, you crossed the line. He is probably a former boulanger, but he has reached the top. He is the president of Haiti. And the Haitian people still in love with him. He might committ some gross erros as a president, but he is the first H > >

Mr Hans, I read with great pleasure your reply. I understand your frustration which is the absolute echo of what we are feeling toward our leaders. A person who makes it to the top of the social ladder should remember where he comes from; therefore > >

Mr. Knight You have made a good point. We should not criticize the president or anyone for what he did for a living. We should focus instead on his performance. We must criticize with judgment, guided by logic and reason and not bitterness or fanati > >

Zarien Krab You asked "I wonder why he was so successful as a private citizen, and a failure as president. Obviously, he has done something good to be where he is now, but why does he stop there?" First of all, you failed to understand that "Le > >

The Dark Knight, With all due respect, can you please establish the difference between "respect and being polite"? You said to Hans Duperois:"I don't ask you to respect him (Preval), but I want you to be polite to yourself" You seem to be ex > >

Honorable Tiba! We all know that he was one of the multitude of friends and followers of Aristide. Why was he chosen to be prime minister, and after the demise of the defrocked priest, why was he elected. He must have something that distinguished hi > >
