Tiba; Thank you for your reply, and I'm sorry for the pain your country has suffered at the hands of so many. Be careful not to judge the intentions of those of us who have chosen to visit you country and found beauty in the people there.
My wife first visited Haiti in 2002 and the people there have been in our hearts since.
I can never know the whole story or all the feelings of the people and children I interact with there, and I'm not kidding myself that I'm saving a country or a person, but I don't want to be someone who saw a need and did nothing because they couldn't do it all - I do my small part and hope others will too. I have no interest if converting anyone away from anything into anything else, I just hope that hugs and smiles and resources shared between Haitians and myself (and it's certainly not a one way interaction, there is giving and receiving on both sides of a hug) can lift someone's spirit, can ease a child's fear and can help us all realize how much we have in common.
As far as the situation at City of God, which was in a terrible slum in central Port au Prince, all I have heard is allegations.
I fear for the children I met there and I'm only trying to find out what's really happening.

Tiba, I'm sorry if you're experience has been such that you could tar all missionary and relief efforts with such a terrible brush - I'm unaware of any human endeavor that can't be corrupted by evil doers, yet we can't let the evil succeed can we? D

Clay Cook- I am not trying to poke you in the eye, and therefore, please don't take it as a personal attack. I understand your genuine concerns for the kids at City of God, and I applaud you for that. But you asked me to "Be careful not to jud

Tiba, I think you and I would get along very well, I'd like the chance to buy you a drink and chat! People who think that they can change a person or culture through a simple religious conversion are deluding themselves and they are just as dangerous

I have received a bit of news regarding the situation at the orphanage at City of God in Port au Prince, Haiti, and I'm glad to pass it on. The person who I have been referring to as "Brother" Pierre St Vistal, is not and apparently has never been a

Tiba, your observation about religious zealots and their supposed aid to Haiti is very accurate. In 1997, I went on a research expedition of these orphanages. What I found was shocking. I documented it all on film. Let me first explain that the origi

Linda - This is the kinda reality about these missionaries (who are viewed as saviors) that many of brain washed Haitian diaspora just refuse to acknowledge and care to know about. A few years ago, I confroted a couple (husband & wife) who claimed
