we need better schools in haiti

Mark says...

Selondieu I'm not oppose to students studying abroad.

Like i've said previously, in most cases it provides a great experience for the students.

My point is that Haitian society gets nothing out of it when the students do not return to Haiti.

The program isn't a bad thing but Haitian society as a whole doesn't benefit when the students don't go back. Having a binding treaty with the host country to make sure the students go back is good idea. My other point is, Haiti needs focus more on improving the schools we already have amd building more schools to accommodate more students.

It's the responsibility of the government to make sure that every young Haitian has access to a decent education not just a few. Many more students would benefit if we brought in the professors than sending a few students abroad.

One professor alone could teach a hundred students in a year, compare to a few students studying abroad.

A more advantageous program would be getting more foreign professors in Haiti.

Futhermore, we need good reputable schools in Haiti and that should be the main focus.

It didn't make any sense that Preval had to go to Cuba for medical tests and care. The face of the government in Haiti and the country as a whole would change for the better if we had high-ranking universities and hospitals in Haiti.

So again my point isn't that going abroad is a bad thing but we need to work on getting good universities and capable hospitals of our own.
