Rene Preval Inauguration Speech Here are the latest comments from our readers. Read it and submit your own comments Thursday Feb 07, 2008Samuel; this was a great post, and I do think that if the president were to read some of the post like yours that are on this blog, it would really help him to make progressive decisions. During my last trip to Haiti, I heard a lot of people complaining about the state of things. However, as a person who has traveled there as often as every 3-4 months since the Duvalier era, I can tell you that there has been improvement. Simultaneously, except for the change in the police academy, all the other changes seem so fragile and without serious infrastructure. If there is no infrastructure the country's changes can easily be undone. The proposals you make would certainly aid in creating the necessary infrastructures. Maybe someone from the government will see your post and we will all benefit from that--although I doubt it.
Thursday Feb 07, 2008He did mention his objective for the people and the Country during his campaign; you probably didn't remember or didn't pay attention on his campaign.I believe he was very clear on one of them "the corruption", in which he put as the primary dilemma in the country that needs to be solved. I personally give him lots of credit for his words, and being a gentleman on his actions, for instance, when Haiti and US had signed the agreement on drug, in 1996 and reinforced 2001 as he mention very clear in his speech when he was addressed the nation and world where Haiti has been standing for along time an till now on drug traficant, that, however, US has been utilized this place to consume drug at home. My friend give him all the support that you possibly could, he is a great man,as Aristid, a man with respect, dignity, talents, interlligent, dreams, and a leader. I think we need to be patience with him another for us to see the future that he will bring for the country and for the Haitian people. I would not be feared as long as United State stay away from him(Gro Zwazo),let him does his work, for France and Canada I think we smart enough to deal with those two as we did before in 1800s. I admire him for his courage and commandment he has with his true leaders ( Cuba, and Venezuela ) although we know he is facing lot of challenges, but with the spirit and confident that he has upon his patriots (Petion and Dessaline) I emphatically believe he is willing to face this great challenge that is posed in between... Sunday Oct 15, 2006I was listening to Rene Preval's speech today and I heard him say that MINUSTA's new role in haiti will be to help us rebuild the country. Can someone shed some light and let me know if the promise of "traktè, bouldozè, gredè" instead of "cha de gè" by the MINUSTAH in Haiti was kept? It's great that I was able to hear it one more time. waiting for a reply
Saturday Oct 07, 2006I count on the Preval/ Alexi administration. I think if they get all the help promised to them by the international community, they will do a good job. However, I do not think that the international community will keep their promise. I hope that the Haitian people pay a real good attention to what is going on here, because all those big money they have been talking about might never get to this government or any government to come. Remember we have been crying out for help for a long time, all we have been receiving is promises. They want us to keep crying, that gives them something to talk about.Only one thing I can say, now is the time for us Haitian people to come together and help our own self. France, Canada and the USA did not help us fight for our independence, why should they help us today develope our Haiti? Watch them close throught out these years and you will see that all those breatiful promeses are just fancy talk, and the problems will still stay the same. At the end, Preval and Alexi are the people the bad judgement will come down to.
Friday Sep 22, 2006The second coming of president Rene Gracia Preval was a difficult electoral proccess, this election has proven democracy is not dead in Haiti. By the same token it could be the incarnation of a new party the Republican party. What does this mean? To me a country with two parties has better control during election time, I hope in the next decade, the patterns for election will change for the better. First, congradulation to the new President of Haiti, Rene Gracia Preval on his victory. Haiti need an effective decicision maker and an hands on president. Haiti problems should categorize by priority. Here are some suggestions for developing this critical skill. 1- Isolate the real problem(s) by identified issues which, if resolved will get you where you want to go. Of course, you must know what outcome or goal you want to achive. Ask yourself repeatedly,"What is the real problem?" Decide how big you will let the solution become not every problem merits all the resources we apply to solve it. Budget the maximum amount of time, money and materials, you can devote cost effective to solve the problem. 2- Establish the time frame for solving the problem, first, for devising the steps to be taken, then for implementing and completing the solution. Gather only enough information to make an informed decisions, don't guess ask around for others' experiences, investigate real experinces only. If merited, hire a consultant with experience solving the same similar problems. 3- Trust your intuition, your mind rarely fools you into making mistakes, as long as you allow it time to think things through. 4- Choose the course of action that fits your time and budget, make sure the resources to be used match the priority of the problem being solved. 5- Implement your decisions, make the expectations clear regarding what is to be accomplished, how, when, and with what accountability for progress and completion. 6- Monitor progress, there are many distractions every day, so make sure priority problems are being worked on steadily. Be the first one to use positive strokes, never be phony but let every person know what their unique value is to you. Freely give information with open-ended inquiries."How... What... When... Where... Why" types of leading question. 7- Make your goal to get to know what everyone really thinks, repeat back what you think you heard" I think I heard you say___. Am I correct or could you tell me what you just heard me say. Stay in "eyeball to eyeball contact" a quote from your inauguration speech. Communicators who are hurt often make a costly and deadly mistake, we forget to look each other straight in the eye, thereby missing important non-verbal cues. 8- The president should listen with an open attitude without haughty condemnation or blame, it is a gift that few of us are allowed to unwrap and enjoy. Make a commitment to your self-esteem by using good listening skills that encourage everyone to feel at their best. Don't be a one man show. 9- The country need talents with qualification to meet the condition of the World Bank. Within two years, if your administration provide a safe environment, they will come from all over the world to invest and work "We are pround Haitian" and the time is now to move Haiti to the progressive level of global trading. Haiti terre de soleil. 10- Remember only God have the ultimate power to choose President. May God be with you and your administration.
Wednesday Sep 20, 2006I support Pascauxx22 for Mr. Preval needs a chance to govern the country but at the same time we need to keep on track what they are doing for we people have a tendency to shift. i have something to complain about is that i don't understand why do they have to be so friendly with the gansters in Haiti for, Bibi, samba boukman i don't know if i get these names right but i heard that they are representing the presidence on the "desarmement" movement if it is so i think this is a urge mistake the gorvenement is making and it needs to be corrected as soon as possible. these people need to be judge and get death penalties for they killed too many innocent people for no reason. we are tired of them. i hope the president let God light is path and God bless him Wednesday Sep 20, 2006I think Mr. Preval and his administration just need a chance. A chance to use their good judgement and knowledge to put Haiti back on its tracks. If the Haitian people voted for him, it is because that we know they could do a better job. in the other hand, that does not mean we are suppose to stop been concerning about our public affairs, because opportunists or thieve are everywhere. they are just waiting for the right time to strick again. the same people that use to steal our taxes money and our out side aides are still around, and their goal is to boycote efforts of good governments, in other to keep doing what they do best, stealing our country's revenue. So, the only thing we have to do to help Preval and his administration better help Haiti, is to watch out for those opportunist or thieve; because our political instabilisation is their econnomic stability. A good five years of good administration of Preval, will bring a stable Haiti. And a stable country is a healthy and whealthy country. Good government minus thieve is equal to lest tribulation and misery in our beloved Haiti. I hope Preval the best.
Thursday Aug 10, 2006Why we cannot speak the truth. Calling criminals, those who are doing criminal acts. In a matter of fact, I do not think we should be united with criminals. They should be punished for their wrong doings, as they do every where. It is only in Haiti, where criminals are free against a ransom to the judge. Those judges should be ashemed to have innocent blood in their hands. The divine justice will catch to them, sooner than they think.
Monday Jul 24, 2006I think what you wrote would have been exceptional, but you failed a very vital principle"Stop acusing each other, stop calling each other Lucifer" You need to recognise that Haiti needs the help of all her children. The family will never be at peace if brothers are calling each other evilous names. You must see Haiti 's change in through the lense of UNITY.I found your comments to be very violent while you are trying to speak against violence. The democratic gane is a game of self respect and respect of others. We must behold the essence of democratique rulership in order to become democratic. I don't think that we should fail to realise the political synergy that is so crucial to the rebirth of our beloved Haiti Louinel Jean
Sunday Jul 23, 2006as haitian i believe that haiti should look forward for the future instead of looking backward. it's been so many years they try to fix things in haiti but theleftist seing in a different ways> by kidnaping, destabilizing and violating people right.my point of view is that for us to stop the violence to come together so that we as the people of haiti can move forward and look for a better future. At least give Preval chance and let forget about Aristide return to haiti.
