Hi, I refute "Under the administrations of Petion, prosperity reappeared.

My sources said under petion, Haiti fell under economic despair.

my sources are Franklin James, John Candler, Bob Heinl...etc. Analysis: Making uneducated black soldiers 'landowners' was a blunder by petion and Jean-Pierre Boyer.

It made Haiti a land of peasants but worst of all compromised Haiti's future for a century to come. The distribution of small plots of land removed from the Haitian agricultural economy all possibility of efficiency gain and capital gain over the long term. sources of analysis: myself, mat lundhal..charles kernizan...etc..As early as 1814 Petion offered France to pay an indemnity in return for the recognition of Haiti's independence.

Indemnity or independence debt which mortgaged Haiti's future for a century to come.
Maybe Petion had good intentions but his administration certainly was that of a visionary.
