i have an idea on how to prevent soil erosion

Instead of waiting for trees which takes numerous years to grow, why don't they plant wheat, and oats grass which only takes a few weeks to grow. the roots of those grasses will prevent soil erosion.

Those grasses are also excellent food for cows.
