- Dominican Rice is being introduced of contraband in Haiti making use of the difference of prices that turns out to be favorable for the Haitians, there revealed yesterday businessmen dedicated to the commercialization of the cereal in the country
The contraband is due to the fact that the price of the rice on the international markets has doubled in the last three months and the Dominican rice is turning out to be cheaper
The director of the World Program of Food of the UNO, Josette Sheeran, defined the situation of the world market of food as one " tsunami silently " that might affect hundred million persons.

This week, Haiti prohibited the exportation of rice as a way of braking the rise in the price of this product and denounced that there exists a network of contraband of the cereal on the border.
