I suggest that the litmus test for the honesty of any new Haitian president be that he/she actually prosecutes, within the first year of his/her presidency, those past leaders who stole from the national coffers or unjustly killed Haitian citizens.

If the new president does not do that within the first year of its leadership, we can safely assume that it is because he/she intends to commit the same crimes in the future, and is afraid of also being judged for them if he sets a precedent.
