Granting TPS to Haiti would be a relatively cost-free measure, compared to another immigration crisis that could occur if that country is allowed to politically implode.

BOTTOM LINE: TPS would help Haiti.

Haiti can't bear another bout of political turbulence.

Since his election, President René Préval has been working steadily to bring stability and improvement to the country.

He deserves a chance to succeed.

This is where the United States comes in. With tempers flaring in Haiti, there's no better time for the Bush administration to send a strong signal of support to the Préval government by granting temporary protected status to a relatively small group of Haitians living in America.
