You said it all Colin.

Why can't people understand something as basic as the human need to eat, drink, and sleep safely in a place call their own. Haitians always seem to want to go the way of violence.

Dictatorship is a form of violent national oppression.

Those who say that is what will work should look at its history in our own country.

Can anyone actually say that things were progressive and moving forward under Duvalier and all the semi dictatorial cronies that came after him. Did the educational level go up during that time; was there social mobility during that time; did the Haitian poor have the same rights as everyone else in the society at that time. I don't see how one can say dictatorship is better after having seen what dictatorship did to Haiti for the past 40 years.

Maybe a sort of totalitarian regime might work, but why not a well balanced democratically elected socialist regime.
