The United Nations Children's Fund - UNICEF - works for children's rights, their survival, development and protection all over the world.

Little 6 and 9 years old girl are being married to 30year old men and 14year old girls are being married to 60year old men in the Muslim world in north of the Sahara in Africa.

Little girls are beaten and denied food if they refuse to cooperate with the rape of their small genitals.

Many 12 to 14 year old girls die in childbirth.

There are laws in many Muslim countries that requires that the genitals of girls get cut off before they get married.

In the South of Sahara in Africa the genital cutting is a cultural tradition that brings a higher bride price.

It is estimated that 130 million girls and women have undergone FGC, female genital cutting, and it is practiced predominantly in 28 countries in Africa.

Although it is most often associated with Islam, it is also practiced by Christians, adherents to traditional African religions, and one Jewish sect. Eighteen African countries have prevalence rates of 50 percent or higher..

FGC occurs in some Middle Eastern countries-Egypt, the Republic of Yemen, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Israel, and is found in some Muslim groups in Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and India.

They refuse to provide girls with an education in many Muslim countries.

Women are persecuted daily, they cannot work and its illegal for women to drive and vote in many Muslim countries,.

Their only option is to get married and stay married regardless of the unspeakable abuse.

Thousands of little girls in India and China are starved to death every year, because they prefer sons, and the girls are regarded as a burden.

The United Nations has proclaimed that childhood is entitled to special care and assistance.

Convinced that the family, as the fundamental group of society is the natural environment for the growth and well-being of all its members and particularly children.

Children should be afforded the necessary protection and assistance so that they can fully assume their responsibilities when they become adults within the community.

Please help stop the abuse of children and women.
