Lionne Club, sorry if you could not understand the post. I was saying this " pleasing, or flattering foreign powers is one of our leaders problems.

It is said "the person who finances is the one in charge".

That is very true. It seems that President R. Preval and his prime minister Mr Alexis have no choice but to please them. This is not an excuse to satisfy all the demands of fotreign powers which have only their interest in mind while they pretend lendind a hand. I think our leaders must be able to negotiate with diplomacy, and intelligence.

Even if they are not successful 100%, the country will gain something from these negotions. The way our leaders negotiate with other country is very strange. They adopt a policy of " head dowm, yes sir" when they have to deal with other governments.

In order for them not to sink under foreign influence, our learders must achieve some sort of financial independence, I mean they must not depend financially on foreign country for all the country needs.

One way to achieve financial independence is to be able to collect taxes from everyone as it is done everywhere else in the world.

But the tax rate should be low enough for every body to pay their dues. An affordable taxe rate would discourage bribery, since many employees in public administration make their fortune from bribe.

Affordable tax would also increase revenues.

Taxe collection should be seriously pursued.

Our mentality regarding paying taxes must be changed. The majority of our journalists, to show they are in the poors interests will discouraged making people paying taxes.

Most of them think that is abusing the poors.

Any time the government wants to do some thing that requires sacrifice, most of us think it is anti democartic.

Tax collection, and making people paying taxes in our country will raise a lot of questions we can not address in this short post. We must change our mentality regarding the relationship between the government and the people.

We can not ask our government not to follow orders from people who finance all its activities, and yet we refuse to do what every citizen must do: paying taxes.

Therefore, to achieve political independence, we must fisrt be financially independent and collecting taxes from everyone is one of the steps to be taken." Some people in Haiti never pay taxes, yet they have money to feed their loas, do whitchcraft etc.
Some of the question regarding this would be: How much and how to collect and how to use what is collected?

Do you think of any other way the government can achieve financial independence
