Tr Bu Patriote, your summery of the state of the country made me so sad. It was so clear and descriptive that I was able to see all that you talked about in my mind's eye (it's different when someone else writes about it).

At that point what I saw were the fathers and the mothers of those who, unlike us, have no computers to shout their pain, their hunger, their frustration.

What I saw in my mind's eye are the children, hungry and sick.

What I see when I look around me today are those young Haitians in the US who have to hide their nationality--and who can blame them. The ones most guilty of that are from the elite classes.

It is sad how because of their parents lack of consciences today they have to be ashamed of who they are. (Let me make this clear; when I talk about the elite in Haiti, I am not referring to skin color.

There are and have always been a dark skin bourgeoisie and elite in Haiti.

They are just as guilty as the light skin ones. Neither group has ever cared if the poorer population lives or dies. Of course, as with everything else in life, there are always those who are the exceptions to the rules, but generally those who are well off in Haiti just don't care).

Now their children are paying the price.

But that is such a small thing compared to those children who are starving and thirsty, have no access to health care or education, will most likely die before they turn 5.
