Making a request to France to release the remainings of Toussaint to Haiti to be buried is pretty good debatable issue.

It is, indeed, very difficult to decide on that. #1 Haiti became a nation in 1804 and Toussaint died in 1803. That means technically, we can't claim him as a citizen of Haiti.

On the other hand, he never lived in France voluntary, therefore France could not decide on his behalf.

Meanwhile we still need to remember that Toussaint often mention to himself as a servant working on the behalf of France.

Does that make him a french?

Why do many historians, including Sarkosky's envoye, Mme Rama Yade, refer to him as an ancestor of haitians.

Due to the fact that he was born in St-Domingue and that he never departed from it voluntary from him, One could argue that his true intend was clearly to remain there and be buried there as he retired in Enery.

It is a good question and I hope some of you guys can come up with a better answer...

I salute you patriotically,

Levy
