But you are confusing US RACISM with Haitian CLASS prejudice which has nothing to do with SKIN TONE, but the facts are that AFRANCHIS had better opportunities for education and some were mulatre and some were noir creole lbre. It just so happen some of the mulatre, their numbers were always small, inherited some of the farms of their white fathers after WE meaning all of us cut off the tentacles of those French blood suckers.

People who run a business are not running a charity organization, they have to support their immediate and extended families and have enough to send their children to university and retire on. They BUILT THE HOUSE AND PURCHASE THE CAR BY THE SWEAT OF THEIR BROWS.

NOBODY GAVE THEM ANYTHIING! So why should the majority of noir creole expect a HAND OUT! or are using violence to robbed others of what they worked SO HARD FOR! Furthermore all upper class folks regardless of what country they live in like to hang around with each other in PRIVATE CLUBS, send their kids to PRIVATE SCHOOLS, they want a person with the same or higher eduction level as themselves to marry their daughters, that's why rich Americans and Europeans have debutante balls.

Anyway nobody wants a criminal and uneducated element marrying their daughter just because he has money which he STOLE FROM THE NATIONAL COFFERS! The education is what makes the difference no matter what your humble beginning is. Don't you think all those people were overwhelmed by the poverty of the majority of the noir creole; why can't noir creole DO FOR THEMSELVES.

My family is like a rainbow, I can look at the problem from a different perspective.

Pere Duval, as Francois Duvalier father's name was belonged to that class.

Francois was born out of wedlock.

It was his uncle who had him educated (I read).

I guess he hated his father and everything he represented (my personal opinion).

Anyway all the noir creole could have created their OWN PRIVATE CLUBS.

Why envy and destroy when you can CREATE YOUR OWN! I do not agree with some of your comments regarding history, for I read the agreement Toussaint had with Maitland regarding Jamaica was to warn them of any revolution plot the jamaicans might have for freedom (and he did on one occasion).

There is much more, and Haitian history is quite complex, there were the royalist, the jacobins, the Afranchis, the African and noir creole slaves and the French all fighting each other for survival.

Toussaint was also a SLAVE OWNER although he would like all of us to FORGET ABOUT THAT! he was also an AFRANCHIS, meaning an ancient libre not a nourveau libre.

People do what it takes to survive in the era that they lived in, given the resources that are available to them. We have to work with each other not destroyed one another no matter what the skin tone is, we are all "Neg" as Dessaline put it, and even he with all his misgivings had married a mulatresse.

Papadoc married a grimelle meaning gens de couleur and has mulatto grand children.

Babydoc married a mulatress.

So lets put that skintone issue to rest and not confuse it with real American RACISM I recommend CLR james "The Black Jacobins" and Madison Smart Bell biography on Toussaint Louverture.

If all of papadoc children and wife inherited over 200million dollars that means he must have looted over a billion dollars out of LITTLE HAITI and caused people to leave and destroyed many and those that may have posed a threat to his dictatorship, wether it was real or imagined is another story.

Read my friend read, for KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM! Duvalier did nothing for Haitians IN GENERAL to be proud of, only his cronies benefited from his minuscule enterprises.Flo.
